Bloomsburg Field Hockey Gets Past Mansfield

Box Score

MANSFIELD-- Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntingdon Valley/Lower Moreland) scored one goal and had one assist to lead Bloomsburg University to 3-2 win over Mansfield on Wednesday in PSAC field hockey action. In the game the Huskies broke the NCAA Division II record for most goals scored in a season with 135. They broke the old mark of 132 set by last year's Bloomsburg team.

The Huskies wasted little time getting on the board scoring just 4:21 into the game when Chelsea Due (Pen Argyl/Pen Argyl) scored off a Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) assist. Mansfield tied the score with less than five minutes before half and the score stayed 1-1 until the 50th minute when Maggey Bloskey (Danville/Danville) took a pass from Vanartsdalen and hit the back of the cage.

About five minutes later Vanartsdalen scored her 30th goal of the season on an unassisted play. Mansfield got back to within a goal with less than four minutes remaining in the game, but the Mountaineers did not get off a shot the rest of the way.

Bloomsburg, ranked number one in the Division II, is 18-1 on the year and will close out the regular season on Sunday at C.W. Post.
